Connecting Telegram brings your customer and prospect direct messages into Unibox alongside email, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn. Klipy captures individual conversations—not group chats or channels. Telegram connects via phone number authentication through Unipile, the same infrastructure used for WhatsApp and LinkedIn.

Before you start

  • You must have an active Telegram account.
  • Have your phone nearby—Telegram sends a verification code via SMS or the Telegram app.
  • Use the Telegram account where you have customer and prospect conversations.

Connect Telegram

1

Open Telegram settings

In the Klipy app, go to Settings → Channels → Telegram.
2

Enter your phone number

Follow the prompts to start the Telegram connection via Unipile. Enter the phone number tied to your Telegram account.
3

Verify with the code

Telegram sends a verification code—either as an SMS to your phone or as a message in the Telegram app (if you’re already logged in elsewhere). Enter the code when prompted.
4

Confirm messages in Unibox

Conversations appear in Unibox within a few minutes. Allow time for initial sync.
If you have Two-Step Verification (a second password) enabled in Telegram, you’ll need to enter that as well during the Unipile flow.

After connecting

  • New Telegram messages appear in Unibox in real time.
  • You can reply to conversations from inside Klipy.
  • Conversations link to contact records where Klipy can match the Telegram user.
To see how Telegram messages are captured, see What Klipy captures.

Disconnect Telegram

Go to Settings → Channels → Telegram and click Disconnect. You can also terminate the session directly in the Telegram app under Settings → Privacy and Security → Active Sessions.

Frequently asked questions

No. Klipy captures direct (private) messages only. Group chats, channels, and bots are not processed.
No. Klipy connects to your regular Telegram account via phone number authentication—the same account you use for personal and business DMs. A separate API account is not required.
In some regions and industries (Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, parts of the Middle East and Latin America), Telegram is a primary business communication channel. If your prospects or customers use Telegram, connecting it ensures those conversations are tracked in your CRM alongside email and other channels.
Unipile is an aggregation layer for messaging channels. Klipy uses Unipile so that Telegram, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn conversations all surface in the same Unibox interface with a consistent experience.
Recent conversation history is synced on first connection. The exact backfill window depends on Telegram’s API; typically the most recent conversations are available immediately.
Connecting Klipy creates an active session similar to Telegram Web. It does not send messages, join groups, or take visible actions on your behalf.
If the session becomes inactive (for example, due to long inactivity or Telegram terminating sessions), you’ll need to reconnect by going back to Settings → Channels → Telegram and re-authenticating.
Yes. Each Klipy user connects their own Telegram account independently—your messages are not shared with teammates unless you’re viewing the same contact record.
No. Klipy is designed for human-to-human conversation tracking. Messages from Telegram bots are not captured or tracked.
