# How do I manage my usage?
> See your token usage, get alerts as you near your limit, and learn what happens at zero — Klipy never bills past your included tokens by default.
Klipy charges tokens only at the moment you approve a result — never in the background, and never without a visible price. This page covers how to check your balance, how Klipy warns you before you run low, and what happens if you reach zero, so a bill is never a surprise.
## See your usage
Your token balance and current plan live in **Settings → Billing**. Every charge — an accepted suggestion, a sent draft, a meeting transcription, an enrichment, a delegation run — lands there as a single line at the moment you approved it, not as a batch of hidden mechanical costs.
## Get a heads-up before you run low
Klipy tracks how much of your monthly token allotment you've used and alerts you as you approach the limit:

Alerts apply to your included monthly allotment. Exempt and pay-per-use-only accounts don't hit these thresholds the same way, since there's no fixed allotment to approach.
Each alert tells you how many tokens you have left, so you can decide whether to slow down or upgrade before you hit zero. If you do reach zero, Klipy sends a separate email confirming your account has paused.
## What happens if you run out
By default, Klipy never bills you past your included tokens — there's no cap to set or overage toggle to find, because overage isn't on unless you've asked for it. Once your account uses its full monthly allotment, token-consuming actions simply pause until your allotment resets at the start of the next billing cycle, or until you upgrade to a plan with more tokens.
At zero, Klipy pauses new token-consuming actions until your allotment resets or you upgrade. Your data, drafts, and everything else in your account stay exactly as they were.
If your account needs to keep working past its included tokens without pausing, pay-per-use (overage) is available as an opt-in at a flat \$0.10 per token — it isn't self-serve today, so contact support to enable it.
## Earn free tokens
Beyond your plan's allotment, Klipy has a few ways to add tokens to your balance at no cost:
* **Refer a colleague.** Share your link — including one-click posts to LinkedIn, X, or WhatsApp — from your in-app Referral page. You earn 200 bonus tokens when someone you referred converts to a paid plan.
