# How do I change my plan?

> Upgrades and added seats take effect immediately. Downgrades, removed seats, and cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period.

You can upgrade, downgrade, add or remove seats, or cancel at any time from **Settings → Billing**. When the change actually takes effect depends on which kind of change it is.

## When does it take effect?

| Upgrade (Free → paid, or move up a tier) | Immediately                        | Your new plan's tokens and features are available right away                                 |

| Downgrade (move down a tier)             | End of your current billing period | You keep your current plan and tokens until the period ends, then you switch to the new tier |
| Remove seats                             | End of your current billing period | The seats stay active, with their tokens, until the period ends                              |
| Cancel                                   | End of your current billing period | You keep full access until the period ends — there's no immediate cutoff                     |

## Upgrades and added seats are instant

Moving from Free to a paid plan, moving up a tier, or adding a seat all take effect the moment you confirm the change. You're never left waiting for more tokens or more room for your team — the point of upgrading is to unblock you, so it happens right away.

  Billing for an upgrade or an added seat adjusts per your plan at the time of the change. Check **Settings → Billing** for the exact amount before you confirm.

## Downgrades, removed seats, and cancellations wait until the period ends

Moving down a tier, removing a seat, or cancelling entirely all take effect at the end of your current billing period — not the moment you make the change. Until then, your plan, your seats, and your tokens stay exactly as they were.

This means you always get what you already paid for. There's no scenario where a downgrade or a cancellation cuts off access mid-period.

  If you downgrade to a tier with fewer included tokens, any unused tokens above the new tier's allowance don't carry over once the switch takes effect at the end of the period.
